Tags?
Tags are short words which you assign to your posts to specify their category.
Why tag your posts?
On your dashboard you can see that the Directory tab is now replaced with new Tumblr ‘Explore’ page which works totally on tags. I don’t know if our blogs get listed anymore or not but our tagged posts do appear on the explore page.
How to tag your posts?
Suppose you want to reblog/post this picture. You’d see a screen something like this.
That’s the Tag box on the right. In this box you can tag your picture with words that specify its category. e.g for this picture you can type nails, beauty, hands etc.etc.
Well, that’s it, you are done. Now just post it.
What is the benefit?
On Tumblr different people search differently according to their interests. e.g if someone searches for Nails or Beauty, your picture may appear and he/she may reblog,like or start following you. It gives you more targeted followers who like your content and want to follow you.
Some people are constantly tracking a tag, whenever anything new is posted under that tag, they get notified on their dashboard. Like I’m tracking Megan Fox. lol
